Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison–even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her.
As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.
Book Review: 1/2
Imaginations are a wondrous thing, especially when they create such fantastically brilliant worlds as that found in The Lunar Chronicles. In the second instalment of what is becoming one of my most obsessed over series, Meyer has dived a little deeper into her futuristic world adding a new cast of characters to the mix. And let me just say, she does it exceedingly well.
Being a review with no spoilers (which this is, if you haven’t noticed) I will be brief (yes..how unusual for me). Meyer expertly intertwines each story in the series so that you truly feel immersed in this world. I enjoyed this one a whole lot more than Cinder, most likely due to the action packed events. I love a good fight.
The elements that I adored in the first book are still present, and I love how they have been built upon to create a believable world. This series is a must! You’ll be entrapped in its creativity, which is what all great fairytales should do.
