As Omega Point prepares to launch an all-out assault on The Reestablishment soldiers stationed in Sector 45, Adam’s focus couldn’t be further from the upcoming battle. He’s reeling from his breakup with Juliette, scared for his best friend’s life, and as concerned as ever for his brother James’s safety. And just as Adam begins to wonder if this life is really for him, the alarms sound. It’s time for war.

On the battlefield, it seems like the odds are in their favor—but taking down Warner, Adam’s newly discovered half brother, won’t be that easy. The Reestablishment can’t tolerate a rebellion, and they’ll do anything to crush the resistance . . . including killing everyone Adam has ever cared about.

Novella Review: 4 stars black

~ Contains spoilers & is mostly just ranting about Adam ~

So you need to read these novella’s….you need to. Don’t you dare pick up Ignite Me without venturing into the mind of Adam. Why? Well lets just say that there is good old fashion character development to the point of I WANT TO SLAP HIM IN THE FACE. It would have been ‘punch’ but i’m a lady.

The low down is this. Adam sees Juliette as weak, this started to become apparent in Unravel Me. He was way too concerned with ‘protecting’ her, because he didn’t believe that she was capable of protecting herself and others. In this novella this point is highly reiterated. During certain moments he even wishes she wasn’t out fighting the war..no not because he didn’t want her to die (although that feeling was still there…just buried a bit too deep for my liking) but because she was slowing them down and was most likely going to get everyone else killed because she didn’t know how to fight. Excellent boyfriend material.

BUT he still ‘loves’ her. When he decides to protect/save James instead of venturing after Juliette as a reader you sort of go ‘huh’?? No, no, no..not because he shouldn’t save his brother, but because of his reasoning behind it. Which is that James is the one he puts first always, no one else. How can a girl compete with that? And he didn’t even take Kenji up on his suggestion to split up, one group going after Juliette and the other after Omega Point. Bad decision Bro.

I wasn’t team Adam before reading this novella, but at least now I don’t feel sorry for him like I did after Unravel Me.  He FELL ASLEEP after saving James, and then travelled to safety without a second thought towards the welfare of Juliette. Then once they decide they should probably go and save her, because you know he is supposed to love her, Kenji goes. Not Adam.

You can’t tell, but I am slamming the keyboard as I write this..

He frustrates me. That is what Mafi should have called this novella, Frustrate Me..not Fracture Me. Just saying.

I’m off to read Ignite Me.

  1. I agree that it’s interesting to see what makes pelope tick even if the phrasing of this reminds me of Sylar from the show Heroes I don’t like to see how pelope tick in the same way that he does, lol.
