Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
I’m not sure even where to start. How am I supposed to describe a book that was so fantastically riveting that I couldn’t put it down!! How? Please tell me how, because I am seriously at a lost for words.
Tahereh Mafi has created a fantastic series that will have you on the edge of your seat as your heart beats away with the main characters. You need this one in your life!
Our main character Juliette has been locked up in an asylum for almost a year. Why? Because she has this power whereby if she touches somebody they die, and she enjoys it. At this stage The Reestablishment is governing the world. They were supposed to be this beacon of hope through the darkness of destruction the world had become, but instead they have become this repressive figure that is driving to eradicate all previous culture and religion. Juliette is swept up in this world as she is asked to become a player for The Reestablishment, an assassin of sorts that would use her power to interrogate and eliminate traitors. But then she falls in love.
Shatter Me was amazing!! Mafi has created this rich and intriguing world with characters that just lift off the page. Each line is expertly crafted to create this vivid image of destruction and salvation. The way this book is written is so unique, you’ll find yourself re-reading conversations just for the sheer brilliance of the writing.
I honestly can’t stop raving about this one, you need to go and check it out!!
