From the author of the New York Times, USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling novel, THE EDGE OF NEVER, comes a story of passion and survival…
Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.
Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.
While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.
As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor’s brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.
This is their story…
Book Review: 5 stars!!
I finished this book over a week ago and I still cannot stop thinking about it! I think J. A. Redmerski just became one of my favourite authors. This story is dark, thrilling, adventurous, sexy and just plain cool! It honestly had everything I could ever want in a book and a little more. It’s a great contemporary romance with an edge, I definitely think people should check it out.
So basically Killing Sarai is the story of a girl who has been forced to be the lover of a Mexican drug lord, killer, human trafficker, and just all-round bad guy named Javier. Sarai has been with Javier since she was 14 years old and has experienced things that no one should ever experience. But Sarai is a strong and amazing character who has somehow survived 9 years with Javier and is determined to escape. So one day when an American assassin comes to meet with Javier she seizes her chance to get away and sneaks into his car in the hopes he’ll take her across the American border. One problem though, Victor is kind of a hard-ass killer who really doesn’t give a damn about one girl… Or does he? Oh man, and from here the story just takes off.
“There is a stark difference between fear and uncertainty, Sarai. You fear nothing but are uncertain of everything.”
Sarai was incredible! She’s strong, independent and damaged but an absolute survivor. I adored her inner monologue and her reactions to everything going on around her. She just felt very real and genuine. Her emotions were clear, logical and understandable; the fear, uncertainty, determination, and strength… it was all just awesome, I felt like I was on the run from Javier too. Plus she’s definitely no damsel in distress which is always a bonus.
“He changed the colors on the palette from primary to rainbow—as dark as the colors
of that rainbow may be.”
And Victor, the bad ass killer for hire. Oh boy. I don’t even know if I can possible convey all of my feelings towards Victor… Basically I love him. Him and Sarai should get married and have lots of little hot kick-ass assassin babies because together they are hot hot hottt. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book which is said to be a lot steamier 😉
Killing Sarai is an intense, fast paced book which will draw you right in and leave you wanting so much more. I think J. A. Redmerski did a great job with this book and I’m so excited to read the next one which comes out very soon 😀
