Monthly Mays, Howdy June Fellows

monthlySo I recently saw this post on a blog that I have been stalking for a good part of the evening. Yes this is what my Saturday nights have come to, and yes I denied an invitation to go to the pub where there would be a live band. Why? That is a very good question, maybe you should check out Emma Snow’s blog and find out.

Do I even remember the month of May? No not really. It was filled with procrastination reading, baking, eating, sleeping, blogging, reading, shopping, eating and probably some more sleeping. Who says that only babies need naps? Well when you work nights like I i’m not a stripper – not that I have anything against strippers – but then you will understand the power of a nap. LOL. Power Nap. Get it? In all honesty though the month of May was filled with studying and exams, but luckily I am now finished and won’t return until September.

With the start of a new month, and it being holidays, it is only fitting that my monthly favourites is shared. Although I am so much more interested in what yours were!

Favourite Books:
According to Goodreads I read a total of 6 books this month(Now do you get what I was saying about procrastareading), and out of those six the below two were definitely my favourite. The 5th Wave, although long, was gripping and devastatingly raw. And The Haunting Season just pulls  you under into this paranormal realm where you must understand what is going on as soon as possible if only for peace of mind. Both riveting reads.

Favourite Music:
I love how music can transform your day. How you can always find that perfect song that reflects exactly how you are feeling but you’ve never been able to put it down exactly how you want to say it. It can be empowering as well as just set the mood. This month I have been listening to a variety of music.

My first favourite is Masquerade by Sleeping at Last. They are the same band that sing Turning Page from, yes, the breaking dawn soundtrack. They are amazing! Their lyrics are just beautiful.

Secondly I’m in love with Imagine Dragons album Night Visions. It is very rare that I find an album which I love every song on it, this is one of those albums. It is actually also a great writing tool, provides an excellent amount of inspiration for particular scenes. You might remember their song Radioactive from the trailer for The HOST, that came out this year. Anyway one of my favourite songs from the album is…oh gosh I can’t decide!

Favourite TV Shows:
So I recently watched the Pilot episode for Twisted in ABC, and let me just pipe in here that I am uber excited for the rest of the season to start airing in June. But lets get back to May.

So I might have a slight obsession with Sherlock! But more importantly I am super bummed that I wasn’t able to see the stage production of Danny Boyle’s Frankenstein which has both Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Lee Miller. If you have no idea who these people are well shame on you, because they are actually both now playing Sherlock in two of my favourite series. You may be thinking but surely they are quite similar shows. Well no there not in slightest. Both a much watch to understand why.

And how could I not add in New Girl! Because I have been watching that show religiously. With its quirky humour and one lines that will make you literally pee you pants I am obsessed. Maybe not as obsessed as I am with Borgias though, which is a period dram about the original crime family. Oh so damn good! This is why!

Favourite Movies:

This month I saw the second Star Trek movie Into Darkness. Let me just say that it was so good! Like so good! Cumberbatch was eerily creepy (and now I am also a devoted Cumberbatch and Pinenut of course) Because Chris Pine is my love. Its the eyes. Its definitely the eyes. I think in my old age I am becoming even more of a fan of sic-fi, although I don’t read a lot of it. I should start to do that. You don’t need to have seen the first one to understand what is happening in this one. But if you have you will get little references, so its really a win win. I loved the contrast between Kirk and Kahn, what both men would be willing to do to save those dearest to them.

The special effects were amazing! Truly! Damn technology is getting good because some scenes where you knew it must be a green screen, sure didn’t look like any green screen.

P.S I love Spock.
Favourite Beauty/Fashion:

The Revlon ColorStay: Ultimate Suede in 050 | Couture & 025 | Socialise . They are a soft and darker pink that although don’t really stay on while eating, they do a pretty damn good job for the most part. On the fashion front I have been loving high waisted skater skirts with either peter pan collared shirts or just a high neck shirt.
