After her promotion from law firm Runner to Investigator, Kathleen Turner is learning the ropes of her new job from none other than assassin-for-hire Kade Dennon, a situation her boyfriend Blane Kirk is none too happy about. But the lessons with Kathleen take a back seat when Kade becomes a target. Previously untouchable, his enemies now know of the chink in his armor – his brother’s girlfriend.
And Kade’s not the only thing coming between Kathleen and Blane. From Blane’s inexplicable defense of a man guilty of a horrible crime, to a mysterious stranger from Kathleen’s past, to Kathleen’ risky investigation into human traffickers, the obstacles mount against a relationship that’s just begun to find trust again.
While Blane considers a job offer that would take him back to the front lines in the war on terror, Kathleen is determined to pursue her new career, with or without his approval. Unfortunately, her current case is far more dangerous than anyone knows. Someone close to Blane will go to extreme lengths to split them up, lengths that may prove worse than death for Kathleen.
Kathleen, Blane and Kade must atone for the sins of the past and the present. The fallout will force Kathleen to a turning point…in her career, and her life.
Review: 3.5 stars
If you have read, and enjoyed the previous Kathleen Turner books, then the third book will not disappoint! This one has it all; jam packed with fast-paced action, hot romance, agonising suspense, and nasty betrayal… Tiffany Snow goes further with Turning Point than ever before.
In this book, Blane and Kat are trying to get their relationship back on track and while things with Blane are going well, Kade, is also still hanging around and Kat’s feelings for him are getting stronger. On top of all that drama, some big shit is going down in Indianapolis that will very nearly get them all killed. This one is full of action-packed, heart stopping dramaaaaa!
OK let’s go into the good stuff… The love triangle:
I often find love triangles to be totally overdone and just plain annoying! They drag on forever, you fall in love with both the guys so you’re heart is constantly breaking for one, and they tend to be very predictable. BUT when done correctly I can become quite obsessed with them and, thankfully, this is one of those good love triangles. It’s simple yet obvious. Kade and Kat have obvious feelings for each other but we all know they’re never actually going to act on it while Blane is still in the picture. Yet the tension is awesome. I also wasn’t hating on Kat for being a massive tease with two guys because she very consistently makes her intentions towards Kade clear (yet is still very conflicted about her feelings which is obviously essential to the triangle formula). It’s a nice change from an annoying heroine who whines and jumps between the two. Yes, some could argue that she does do this, but in my opinion she wasn’t too bad! At the same time though, I’m hoping this triangle gets resolved soon or it will break my poor heart.
What annoyed me the most:
Sometimes I really just want to slap Kat. She knows nothing about investigating or bad people yet she insists on throwing herself head first into these super dangerous situations where she could easily get herself and others killed. She does this over and over and over again. It kills me. Then when Blane tries to protect her because he knows how insane she is, Kat gets crazy angry at him! Inappropriate reaction. I know she’s supposed to be this really selfless person who just wants to help others but I just think she’s an idiot. It’s called self-preservation and Kat desperately needs to find some.
And finally … The Ending:
Seriously!? Tiffany really leaves you hanging with this ending. Plus she leaves you with a super big teaser chapter from the next book, a book that doesn’t come out until DECEMBER! Pure torture.
If you like a little suspense mixed with a steamy romance, please check out the Kathleen Turner series. I was recently introduced to them in November and I have become addicted to the story (I actually read the first two books in a day and a half)!
